The Lexus RZ 450e: An Electric Vehicle with Impressive Range

The Lexus RZ 450e made its debut at the Toyota Beyond Zero exhibition in February 2024, and it was actually launched in Thailand last year at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show. Less than half a year since its introduction in Malaysia, Lexus has now announced the sale of the electric vehicle RZ 450e at a competitive price. Specifically, according to Lexus Malaysia, this luxury electric car is priced from 429,888 RM (~ 2.2 billion VND), excluding insurance.

The Lexus RZ 450e has dimensions of 4,805 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. Its design is regarded by experts as embodying the distinctive Lexus style, even without the brand’s signature spindle grille.

In the Malaysian market, the RZ 450e is equipped with a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a WLTP-rated range of 440 km. The Lexus RZ 450e’s battery can be charged from 0% to 80% in 30 minutes using a DC 150 kW fast charger via the CCS2 connection. Alternatively, an AC 11 kW charger via a Type 2 connection can fully charge the vehicle in 6.5 hours.

The car features an all-wheel-drive system with two motors: a front motor producing 203 horsepower and 266 Nm of torque, and a rear motor generating 107 horsepower and 169 Nm of torque. This combination delivers a total system output of 308 horsepower, enabling the RZ 450e to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.

Inside the cabin, the RZ 450e boasts a center console adorned with luxurious Tsuyasumi wood trim, while the seating is upholstered in Ultrasuede leather. Overall, the interior of the Lexus RZ 450e closely resembles that of the gasoline-powered Lexus RX. This luxury sedan is equipped with a Mark Levinson Premium surround sound system, featuring 13 speakers, an 8-inch multi-information display, and a 14.1-inch center infotainment screen.

The RZ 450e incorporates the third-generation Lexus Safety System (LSS+), which includes adaptive cruise control at all speeds, Lexus Teammate Advanced Park (automatic parking assist), a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane-changing assist with blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

In Malaysia, the RZ 450e comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty, along with an eight-year unlimited-mileage battery warranty, which can be extended for an additional two years as an option. Exterior color options for the RZ 450e in Malaysia include Aether Metallic, Sonic Copper, Sonic Chrome, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Sonic Quartz, and Sonic Iridium.
