Mazda Unveils the All-New CX-50: Introducing a Fresh Hybrid Variant
Mazda has exciting news for automotive enthusiasts with its recent unveiling of the 2025 CX-50, now featuring a brand-new hybrid option. This addition to the CX-50 lineup showcases Mazda’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is a testament to efficiency, boasting an impressive fuel economy of approximately 6.19 L/100km. This translates to annual fuel cost savings of around $575 for drivers.
Powering the CX-50 Hybrid is a sophisticated hybrid system, combining a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, three electric motors, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, and a small battery pack. This setup delivers a total output of 219 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque.
Mazda’s engineers have fine-tuned the Toyota-sourced hybrid system, optimizing details such as pedal response to deliver a connected and responsive driving experience. The CX-50 Hybrid promises a “smooth and refined” ride, along with a towing capacity of up to 680 kg.
Design-wise, the CX-50 Hybrid retains the sleek styling of its non-hybrid counterpart, with subtle distinctions. It features an enhanced front bumper and 17- or 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior offers an exclusive red leather upholstery option.
The 2025 CX-50 also introduces standard integration of the virtual assistant, Alexa, across all variants. Additionally, it boasts enhanced safety features, including a smart brake support system with nighttime pedestrian detection and frontal collision mitigation technology.
Powering the non-hybrid CX-50 are two engine options: a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 251 Nm of torque, or a 2.5L turbocharged engine delivering 256 horsepower and 433 Nm of torque.
In the US, the 2025 Mazda CX-50 starts at an MSRP of $30,300, while the hybrid variant is priced at $33,970. The gasoline-powered models will arrive at dealerships next month, with the hybrid version expected to reach customers by the end of the year.
