Volkswagen Unveils the All-New Tharu XR SUV

Volkswagen Tharu XR is the latest addition to the Volkswagen family, based on the MQB A0 platform, shared with the T-Cross. With dimensions of 4,355 x 1,762 x 1,605 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,651 mm, the Tharu XR is positioned in the B+ SUV segment, similar to the Toyota Corolla Cross.

The Tharu XR boasts a tall, modern stance, bearing resemblance to its siblings, the T-Cross and the original Tharu.

The front of the vehicle is characterized by Volkswagen’s signature design language, featuring sharp LED headlights and a large grille on the front bumper. At the rear, the Tharu XR sports new LED taillights with smoked lenses. Depending on the trim level, the SUV will be adorned with either chrome or black exterior accents.

Under the hood of the Volkswagen Tharu XR are two engine options. The first is a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 110 horsepower. The second is a turbocharged 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine, generating an impressive 158 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

Volkswagen has not yet released images of the interior or pricing details for the Chinese market, but the Tharu XR is expected to be priced higher than the Volkswagen T-Cross, which starts at 115,900 NDT (approximately 405 million VND), and lower than the Tharu, priced at 158,600 NDT (approximately 555 million VND).

Stay tuned for more updates on the Volkswagen Tharu XR!
