Audi Unveils the All-Electric Audi Q8 e-tron: A Sleek and Powerful SUV

Audi has recently introduced the all-electric variant of its renowned Audi Q8 SUV, named the Q8 e-tron. With its sophisticated design, advanced powertrain technology, perfect handling, and long-lasting battery life, the Audi Q8 e-tron is a perfect addition to Audi’s electric SUV collection.

At its launch, the Audi Q8 e-tron was offered in the Q8 e-tron 55 quattro Advanced version, with a starting price of 3.8 billion VND. This model will be directly distributed by Audi Vietnam.

Impressive Development Platform

Since the introduction of the Audi e-tron SUV in 2018, which sold over 150,000 units globally, Audi has proven the correctness of its “Vorsprung 2030” electric vehicle development strategy.

In Vietnam, the Audi e-tron SUV was showcased at the 2022 Vietnam Auto Expo. The all-electric SUV quickly gained attention from the media and customers due to its advanced design and cutting-edge technology, reflecting Audi’s commitment to environmental protection. Following this success, Audi introduced the Q8 e-tron with design and technology upgrades in late 2022. After almost two years, the Audi Q8 e-tron is now officially available in the Vietnamese market.

New Grille Design and Logo

One of the most striking features of the Audi Q8 e-tron is its distinctive single-frame grille with a subtle design, combining LED lights that highlight the new four-ring logo. As a renowned electric SUV from Audi, the Q8 e-tron introduces a new brand identity with a simplified two-dimensional design of the four-ring emblem. The inclusion of the model name on the B-pillar is also a new highlight. These changes emphasize the futuristic design of the Q8 e-tron, making it stand out on any road in Vietnam.

This standard feature enhances the progressive design of the new Audi logo. With four white rings on a black background, the design showcases Audi’s future-oriented, refined, and consistent product development approach.

Intelligent Headlights with LED Matrix Technology

The optional digital LED matrix headlights are a distinctive feature of the Audi Q8 e-tron. The adaptive beam, lane, and orientation lights assist the driver in low-light conditions. On highways, the LED headlights create a long beam pattern ahead like a “carpet,” ensuring a safe driving experience.

Exterior Optimized for Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics is a key priority for Audi, especially in its electric vehicle line-up. The drag coefficient has been improved from 0.28 on the Audi e-tron to 0.27 on the Audi Q8 e-tron. Additional elements under the body help adjust the airflow at the larger wheel arches, reducing air resistance.

Audi also equipped the Q8 e-tron with active aerodynamics as standard around the front grille. These upgrades demonstrate Audi’s attention to detail and commitment to optimizing energy usage, contributing to a greener and cleaner planet.

Subtle and Emotional Design Changes

The Audi Q8 e-tron is a bold entry into the premium electric SUV segment. With dimensions of 4,915 x 1,937 x 1,633 mm and a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, it showcases that electric vehicles can offer both technological advancements and practicality for daily use.

The beauty of this electric SUV is further enhanced by the choice of monochrome or metallic exterior finishes, complemented by 21-inch 5-spoke Graphite gray wheels with an aerodynamic design. The sporty character is emphasized by the smoothly sloping roofline that extends to the rear spoiler.

Leading-Edge Interior Design

The interior of the Q8 e-tron continues the progressive design of the previous Audi e-tron. This is evident in the Audi Virtual Cockpit plus 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with multiple display modes, a feature that Audi is proud to lead in its segment.

Additionally, the driver can easily control the vehicle’s functions and amenities through two responsive MMI touchscreens, measuring 10.1 inches and 8.6 inches, which almost entirely replace traditional mechanical buttons.

When the doors are opened, occupants are welcomed by LED lighting in both the front and rear. In Vietnam, the car comes standard with front sports seats upholstered in premium Valcona leather, ensuring comfort on every journey. The four-zone climate control system is conveniently operated through an 8.6-inch touchscreen below.

Furthermore, the interior can be personalized with a multi-color ambient lighting system, offering various shades and themes to match the owner’s mood and preferences. This is complemented by a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system that delivers a captivating 3D audio experience, transforming the Audi Q8 e-tron into an emotionally charged auditorium.

With a long wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the rear passenger compartment offers ample legroom and headroom, enhanced by the panoramic sunroof. This area also features convenient amenities such as auxiliary charging ports and independent climate control.

The Audi Q8 e-tron boasts a standard cargo capacity of 569 liters, expandable to 1,637 liters by folding down the second-row seats. Additionally, it offers a front cargo area under the hood, providing up to 62 liters of extra storage space for the onboard tool kit and mobile charging cable.

Powerful Performance

The Audi e-tron has set the standard in the luxury electric SUV segment since 2018, and its sales success has made the e-tron name renowned worldwide.

Now, the new Audi Q8 e-tron will continue the success story of the “pioneer” in the electric vehicle field as the most premium model in Audi’s electric SUV and crossover line-up. Specifically, the Audi Q8 e-tron 55 quattro is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 100 kW of power, providing a maximum output of up to 300 kW (408 hp) and a peak torque of 664 Nm.

These figures showcase the SUV’s immediate power delivery, effortless highway passing capabilities, and safe acceleration. Combined with a single-speed electric transmission and the legendary quattro all-wheel drive system, the Audi Q8 e-tron can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, and even faster at 5.6 seconds in Boost Mode. Despite its substantial weight of 2,682 kg, the top speed of this electric SUV reaches an impressive 200 km/h.

Technical Upgrades

In the Audi Q8 e-tron, the asynchronous motor on the rear axle has been fine-tuned. Instead of 12 turns of wire creating a magnetic field, this component has been upgraded to 14 turns. This enhancement generates a stronger magnetic field with the same electricity, allowing for higher torque output. Conversely, the electric motor requires less energy to produce the same torque, optimizing energy consumption and increasing the vehicle’s range.

The Audi Q8 e-tron also comes standard with an adaptive air suspension system. This setup allows for a maximum variation of 76 mm in the vehicle’s ride height. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, combined with the suspension, enhances the car’s agility when tackling tight corners. The steering ratio has been modified for quicker responses, and the front axle of the suspension has been reinforced for a more authentic driving feel and precise road feedback.

Powering the Audi Q8 e-tron 55 quattro is a state-of-the-art Lithium-Ion battery system with a capacity of up to 114 kWh. With this substantial battery, the flagship electric SUV from Audi can travel up to 582 km on a single charge (according to WLTP). Thanks to software optimizations, the maximum DC charging capacity at fast-charging stations can reach 170 kW, enabling the vehicle to charge from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes, adding up to 420 km of range. With the convenient mobile charging system, owners can fully charge their vehicles at home in approximately 10 hours with an AC 11 kW charger or 5 hours with an AC 22 kW charger.

The Perfect Choice for a Sustainable Future

With its impressive design, advanced technology, and impressive performance, the Audi Q8 e-tron is expected to continue the success of Audi’s electric vehicle line-up and set new standards for electric SUVs.

Additionally, Audi hopes to offer a perfect choice for the premium SUV segment with a more environmentally friendly option. Along with the attractive pricing, customers who purchase the Audi Q8 Advanced 55 e-tron from authorized Audi Vietnam dealers between June 12, 2024, and December 31, 2024, will receive a complimentary ABB AC 22kW wall charger.
