The popularity of SUV/CUV vehicles is on the rise in Vietnam, with models priced below 600 million VND being a consideration for individuals and families looking to switch to higher-riding vehicles.

The greatest strength of SUV/CUV vehicles is their high ground clearance. This feature allows them to navigate various terrain with ease, including potholed roads, bumpy roads, hilly roads, flooded roads, off-road tracks, and more. In contrast, vehicles with lower ground clearance, such as sedans, hatchbacks, and MPVs, are highly restricted on these road types. This is the primary reason why SUV/CUV vehicles are becoming the preferred choice for many consumers.

SUV/CUV Segment A

VinFast VF 5

Price: from 468 million VND

In Vietnam, the VinFast VF 5 is offered in one variant, with prices starting at 468 million VND (battery leasing) and 548 million VND (battery purchasing).

As the smallest member of VinFast’s electric vehicle family, which includes the VF e34, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9, the VF 5 is positioned to replace the discontinued Fadil. Its standout advantages include a compact and stylish design, agile urban performance, and optimized operating costs that surpass those of gasoline-powered vehicles in the same segment.

The VinFast VF 5 is a masterpiece born from the designs of renowned global brands, Torino Design and Pininfarina. Positioned in the small SUV segment, the VF 5 boasts a compact yet eye-catching appearance thanks to its youthful design language. Following the traditional VinFast style, the VF 5 features a large chrome strip forming a prominent V shape that extends to both sides, resembling outstretched wings that embrace the brand logo. However, unlike the VF 8 and VF 9 positioned in higher segments, the chrome strip on the VF 5 does not incorporate LED technology.

Minimalism continues to be a theme in the VF 5’s rear design, highlighted by a red-colored wing-like shape that embraces the VinFast logo. The turn signals, reverse lights, and rear lights are placed low and feature a red color. The roof spoiler and shark fin antenna match the body color. The rear bumper has a rugged design with glossy black trim, further emphasizing the VF 5’s robust appearance. The trunk opens conventionally and offers sufficient space for short trips.

The VF 5’s cabin features a highly minimalist design, with two screens mounted on the dashboard and minimal physical buttons. Behind the steering wheel is a 7-inch LCD screen that displays speed and driving-related information. In the center is an 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, which supports voice control and is paired with a four-speaker audio system. Notable conveniences include automatic climate control with PM2.5 air filtration and voice control via the virtual assistant.

The VF 5 is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that generates 134 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack, offering a range of up to 326 km according to the NEDC standard. The vehicle also incorporates fast DC charging, capable of charging the battery from 10% to 70% in just 30 minutes.

Inside the cabin, the MG ZS impresses with modern amenities such as a 3-spoke flat-bottom sports steering wheel, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, analog gauges, and a small color screen behind the steering wheel. Below the infotainment system is a manually controlled air conditioning system with PM2.5 air filtration.

The area around the gear selector features additional storage spaces, cup holders, two USB ports, and a 12v charging socket. Furthermore, there are various drive-assist buttons, including hill descent control and electronic stability control.
