The Chery iCar V23 is an upcoming compact SUV with off-road capabilities, born from a collaboration between Chery and Xiaomi’s subsidiary. With an expected price of 420 million VND, this SUV will be hitting the markets later this year.

Back in April, Chery revealed the first images of the iCar V23, an electric SUV with a sporty design. This project is a joint effort between Chery and Zhimi Technology (a Xiaomi subsidiary specializing in smart home appliances), with Zhimi taking the lead on design and technology, while Chery handles production, supply chain, sales, and after-sales service.

According to leaked documents, the standard iCar V23 will be priced at 119,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 420 million VND). This front-wheel-drive version offers an impressive maximum range of 400 km on a single charge. Additionally, there will be higher-end versions available with all-wheel drive and a range of up to 500 km per charge. Chery has not yet disclosed detailed specifications regarding the powertrain, power output, and torque of this electric SUV.

The manufacturer boasts impressive dimensions for the iCar V23: 4,220 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,845 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. Compared to other vehicles in its price segment, the Chery SUV excels in off-road capabilities, featuring approach and departure angles of 43 and 41 degrees, respectively, and a substantial ground clearance of 212 mm.

The design of the Chery iCar V23 has sparked some controversy due to its resemblance to iconic off-road SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Land Rover Defender, and the classic Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. The front of the vehicle sports LED headlights and a grille reminiscent of the FJ40, while the bumper and windshield appear to be inspired by the Jeep Wrangler.

The sides of the iCar V23 also draw comparisons to the Land Rover Defender, except for the hidden door handles. The rear of the SUV, particularly the low-mounted LED taillights and the spare wheel carrier, seems influenced by the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The similarities continue inside the cabin, where the steering wheel bears a striking resemblance to that of the Land Rover Defender. Although specific configurations have not been disclosed, reports suggest that the iCar V23 will feature an infotainment system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and advanced L2+ driver assistance systems.

The Chery iCar V23 is set to hit the markets later this year, and according to media reports, this collaboration between Chery and Zhimi will result in the launch of 6 to 8 new models over the next three years.
