Lexus Unveils the New GX SUV in Vietnam with a Price Tag of $265,000

The highly-anticipated Lexus GX SUV has finally arrived in Vietnam, with a starting price of 6.2 billion VND. Customers who wish to include a panoramic sunroof will need to pay an additional 50 million VND. The version with the sunroof is already available at two dealerships in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while those opting for the single-pane roof will have to wait until September 2024 for their vehicles.

The new Lexus GX is built on the same TNGA-F body-on-frame platform as the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX600, offering a robust and reliable foundation.

With overall dimensions of 4,960 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, and a ground clearance of 220 mm, the GX offers a spacious and comfortable ride. Compared to its predecessor, it is 80 mm longer, 95 mm wider, and 50 mm taller.

The Lexus GX 2024 retains its signature square and angular design, but with a more masculine edge. However, certain elements still bear the distinctive Lexus design language, such as the large spindle grille and L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The hood has a prominent design that harkens back to the classic Range Rover models. The front bumper, finished in the body color, resembles a protective skid plate and houses LED fog lights.

The side profile exudes strength and masculinity, with square wheel arches and a distinct two-tiered window line. The large side mirrors are reminiscent of the iconic FJ Cruiser, adding to the GX’s bold presence.

The 22-inch alloy wheels feature a unique gray metallic finish, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall design.

At the rear, the Lexus GX 2024 embraces a minimalist aesthetic, highlighted by a sleek LED taillight that spans the width of the vehicle. The rear glass opens independently, while the tailgate has been updated to a power liftgate instead of the side-opening design of the previous generation.

Step inside the Lexus GX, and you’ll be greeted by a harmonious blend of luxury and modernity. The interior is adorned with Tsuyasumi wood trim and Semi-Aniline leather, creating an elegant and refined atmosphere.

The Vietnamese market will receive a fully-loaded version of the GX, boasting an impressive array of features. These include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a head-up display, an electronic gear selector, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory and ventilation functions, an 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat, front seat massage function, and manually adjustable second and third-row seats.

Additional amenities include a panoramic sunroof with electric control and privacy shade, power-adjustable pedals, auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors with memory, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system with Nano-e and pollen filtration technology.

In terms of safety, the Lexus GX 2024 is equipped with the LSS+ 3.0 suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. This includes features such as Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and more.

Similar to the flagship LX 600 SUV, the GX also benefits from a 360-degree surround-view camera system, providing a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings and underbody (in a simulated, non-real-time manner).

Under the hood, the Lexus GX 550 is powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 349 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. This potent powertrain is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. The GX has a combined fuel consumption rating of 23.52 liters per 100 kilometers.

According to Lexus, the GX 550 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. Drivers can choose from six drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom, allowing them to tailor the vehicle’s performance to their preferences.
