Mercedes-Maybach Unveils the S680: A Special Edition Celebrating 150 Years of Robbe & Berking Yachts
Retaining its signature luxurious and sleek image, the Maybach S680 has been personalized with details inspired by the 1939 Sphinx yacht, infusing a classic and aristocratic touch.
The 21.48-meter-long Sphinx yacht was built in 1939 by Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard. Over the years, it has changed owners several times. The current owner of the Sphinx is Oliver Berking, the founder of the Robbe & Berking Classics yacht shipyard in Flensburg. There is a close connection between Maybach and Robbe & Berking as the shipyard not only builds yachts for the elite but also manufactures interior details for Mercedes-Maybach supercars.
This special Mercedes-Maybach S680 features a two-tone exterior with Nautical Blue Metallic blue on the upper half and Patagonia red on the lower half. Separating these striking colors is a white Opalite Metallic line inspired by seashells.
The yacht inspiration is more evident in the interior of the car. The seats, roof, door panels, and even the storage compartments are upholstered in Crystal White Maybach Manufaktur Exclusive nappa leather, exuding elegance. Additionally, the dashboard, armrests, and other surfaces in the Maybach are adorned with walnut wood trim, accompanied by chrome lines reminiscent of yacht decks.
Under the hood of the Maybach S680 lies a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, delivering 603 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9G Tronic automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. With this powerful engine, the German sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
The official price of this one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Maybach S 680 has not been disclosed. In Vietnam, the standard Mercedes-Maybach S 680 starts at VND 16 billion.
