The SDD Jetbus 5 – A Luxury Coach with a Mercedes-Benz Foundation, Featuring Business-Class Seats and ADAS Technology

At the recent Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, bus manufacturer Garuda Mas unveiled their latest offering, the SDD Jetbus 5 – a luxurious coach with a difference.

Based on the Mercedes-Benz O 500 RSD 2445 platform, the Jetbus 5 is powered by a mighty OM 460 LA 6-cylinder engine, producing 449 horsepower at 1,800 rpm and capable of hauling up to 24 tons.

But it’s the interior that really sets this bus apart. Inspired by business class airline cabins, the upper deck features 28 seats in a spacious 2-2 configuration, along with two private rooms with sliding doors. Downstairs, there are just two sleeping berths and four captain’s chairs, reminiscent of first-class airline seats.

However, what truly makes the SDD Jetbus 5 unique is its focus on safety. This bus is equipped with a host of modern safety features, rarely seen in today’s bus market. These include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Active Brake Assist (ABA) with predictive distance warning and safe braking, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The ESP can automatically reduce power or apply brakes to restore stability or prevent hazardous situations.

Mr. Barmawi, CEO of Garuda Mas, did not disclose the exact price of this luxurious coach. However, the Mercedes-Benz platform alone retails for over 2 billion Rupiah (~ 3 billion VND).
