A 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser sold at auction for a staggering sum of nearly 2 billion VND.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is renowned for its astonishing durability. Globally, it’s not uncommon to see Land Cruisers with ages ranging from 15 to 20 years still being used as daily drivers. Due to their durability, Land Cruisers are consistently ranked among the best vehicles in terms of resale value. Recently, a Land Cruiser with over 26 years under its belt was successfully auctioned off on the Cars & Bids platform in the US for a price of $78,500, which equates to nearly 2 billion VND.

This particular Toyota Land Cruiser belongs to the J100 generation and was manufactured in 1998. It boasts a Desert Bronze Metallic exterior and has only had one owner. Despite being over two decades old, the SUV remains in excellent condition and shows no signs of scratches or wear.

The interior of the Land Cruiser features a luxurious cream-colored leather upholstery. The gear shift lever, instrument cluster, radio, and various other dashboard components are remarkably well-preserved. However, the seats show signs of aging with the appearance of wrinkles.

Under the hood, the 1998 Land Cruiser is powered by a 4.7L V8 engine that produces 233 horsepower and 434 Nm of torque. These figures may seem modest compared to the 2024 Land Cruiser Prado, which is equipped with a 2.4-liter inline-four turbocharged engine capable of delivering 331 horsepower and a maximum torque of 631 Nm.

In the US, the Land Cruiser 300 has been discontinued for a few years, and its return to the market remains uncertain. Currently, Toyota USA only offers the Land Cruiser 250, also known as the Land Cruiser Prado. The starting price for this model is $55,950 (approximately 1.4 billion VND) for the 1958 version and $74,950 (around 1.89 billion VND) for the First Edition.
