Toyota Camry Makes Its Global Debut: Now Available in Southeast Asia
Spotted on roads recently, the highly-anticipated Toyota Camry is finally making its way to the Southeast Asian market. With test vehicles hitting the roads, the official launch is expected to be just around the corner, possibly in October.
Heavily camouflaged test vehicles leave us guessing whether the Southeast Asian version will resemble the models in the US or China. These two variants differ slightly to cater to specific regional customer preferences.
For instance, the Chinese version sports a single-colored front bumper, along with a dark-tinted trunk lid spoiler. On the other hand, the US version opts for a simpler, monochromatic body design.
The new Toyota Camry for Southeast Asia is expected to be equipped with a hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.5L engine with an electric motor. This setup delivers a total output of 225 horsepower for the front-wheel-drive version and 232 horsepower for the all-wheel-drive variant.
Previously, the Toyota Camry in Thailand offered two engine options: a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine and a 2.5L hybrid powertrain.
Along with the new Camry, Toyota is also expected to introduce the Prius to Thai customers. The Prius was recently spotted undergoing road tests as well.
