According to sources, BMW is in the process of developing its first high-performance electric vehicle from the M Performance division.

The new electric vehicle is rumored to be equipped with four motors, with each wheel having its own dedicated motor, resulting in a combined output of up to 1,341 horsepower and delivering superior performance.

This high-performance electric sedan is expected to be launched in 2026 or, at the latest, 2027, and will be sold alongside the M3 and M models with internal combustion engines.

The vehicle is built on BMW’s latest Neue Klasse platform, which is modern and advanced, promising significant improvements in performance, comfort, and safety.

Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M Division, confidently asserts that this new electric vehicle will outperform all competitors in the high-performance electric vehicle segment. BMW has developed the electric motors in-house and believes they will set a new standard for the electric vehicle industry.

BMW’s new sedan is expected to be the fastest-accelerating production car in the company’s history, capable of reaching 0-60 mph in under three seconds.

Van Meel revealed that the vehicle’s battery will feature a different chemical composition compared to previous BMW electric vehicles and will include an improved cooling system.

The German automaker is also considering developing a base model with a dual-motor rear-wheel-drive system. This version will use similar hardware and software but will have a lower output compared to the four-motor version, providing customers with additional options.
