Just under four months after its global debut, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has officially arrived in Southeast Asia, with Malaysia as its first stop in the region.
In this market, the Taycan Turbo GT has a starting price of 1.16 million RM (approximately 6.3 billion VNĐ) – a hundred thousand RM more than the Turbo S.
The highlight of the Taycan Turbo GT is its new, extremely powerful engine. Specifically, the car is equipped with two electric motors, with a standard output of 777 horsepower and 1,339 Nm of torque. The car can achieve a power of 1,019 horsepower through the new Attack mode or 1,092 horsepower in 2 seconds thanks to Launch Control.
These figures make the Taycan Turbo GT the most powerful Porsche ever, surpassing even the legendary 918 Spyder. Moreover, the acceleration capability of this electric supercar is also extremely impressive. According to Porsche, the Taycan Turbo GT takes just 2.3 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h and 6.6 seconds to reach 200 km/h. The car’s top speed is 290 km/h.
Along with the increase in power, Porsche has also focused on optimizing the weight of this model. Details such as the B-pillar trim, door mirror caps, and sill trims are made from carbon fiber, as are the standard carbon shell seats, lighter trunk trim, and the removal of the electric trunk lid function.
In terms of design, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT stands out from other versions thanks to its aerodynamic body kit, which includes an adaptive rear wing, a gurney flap, and front/rear bumpers with integrated air dividers. This body kit helps the Taycan Turbo GT generate a total downforce of 220 kg.
The car is equipped with the adaptive Porsche Active Ride suspension system, combined with lightweight 21-inch forged wheels, which optimize brake cooling efficiency. This is accompanied by Ceramic Composite (PCCB) brake discs.
By using a variety of super-lightweight materials, the Taycan Turbo GT has a curb weight of 2,290 kg, which is 5 kg lighter than the Turbo S. The Weissach package further reduces weight and is a free option on the Taycan Turbo GT. This equipment reduces weight by 70 kg compared to the Turbo S by replacing the Taycan’s rear seats with a carbon fiber storage space. Analog gauges, floor mats, trunk, and AC charging port on the driver’s side are removed, and only four speakers remain.
As the most powerful car in Porsche’s history, the Taycan Turbo GT has quickly set a series of new records. Recently, this electric car achieved the title of “fastest mass-produced electric car” at the Weathertech Laguna Seca racetrack with an impressive time of 1:27.87.
Moreover, the Taycan Turbo GT successfully conquered the “Green Hell” Nürburgring racetrack, becoming the “fastest four-door coupe of all time” and breaking the previous record held by the Tesla Model S Plaid.
