In a recent development regarding the Land Cruiser car with a fake green license plate, the Ministry of Public Security has announced that the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety and Order has conducted an inspection and investigation.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety and Order had previously received a document from the Administration – Management II Bureau (under the Government Office) requesting an inspection and clarification regarding a car with the license plate number 80B-9189, which was inactive but still had money deducted from its VETC account at 10:23 pm on June 22 at the Ben Thuy I Toll Station.
Recognizing the signs of a possible license plate forgery of the Government Office, the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety and Order instructed operational units to review the case.
At around 10 am on June 30, at the Van Don Toll Plaza (Quang Ninh) on the Ha Long – Mong Cai Highway, a task force from Team 2 stopped and inspected a Land Cruiser VX with license plate number 80B-9189, which showed abnormal signs. There were five people in the car, including the driver, N.D.H. (from Hoang Mai, Hanoi), and four women.
During the inspection, the authorities discovered that the aforementioned Land Cruiser VX was equipped with a license plate flipping device, with one side displaying the real license plate number 29A-455.65.
The vehicle registration database of the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety and Order identified that the license plate number 80B-9189 was issued to a vehicle under the management of the Administration Bureau – Government Office. This was the same license plate number that the Administration – Management II Bureau had requested to be verified due to suspected forgery.
During the interview with the police, the driver, N.D.H., admitted to installing the license plate flipping device on his car, with one side displaying the correct license plate and the other side displaying the fake green license plate number 80B-9189.
According to the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety and Order, the driver, N.D.H., is currently working for a central agency.
The case is still being investigated by Team 2 of the Highway Road Traffic Patrol and Control Force in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Agency of Van Don District Police (Quang Ninh).
