The Hongqi Guoli is the successor to the L5. Alongside the Guoli, three other models, the Guoyao, Guoya, and Guoyue, complete the lineup under the Golden Sunflower marque.

Hongqi has recently unveiled its new luxury sedan, the Guoli, under the new Hongqi Golden Sunflower brand. The Hongqi Guoli is priced at 7.18 million yuan ($990,000) in the Chinese market. Golden Sunflower is a brand dedicated to the most luxurious and expensive models from Hongqi.

The Hongqi Guoli is the successor to the Hongqi L5. In addition to the Guoli, the Guoyao, Guoya, and Guoyue are the other models that make up the lineup under the Golden Sunflower marque.

In terms of dimensions, the Hongqi Guoli measures 5,980 mm in length, 2,090 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,730 mm and a weight of 3,150 kg. With these dimensions, the Guoli is positioned as a large sedan. Compared to the 2014 Hongqi L5 Zhizun Edition, the Guoli is 425 mm longer in length and has a wheelbase that is 295 mm longer.

In terms of design, the Hongqi Guoli impresses with its vertical waterfall grille at the front, combined with round headlights that protrude in a classic style. According to Hongqi, this design draws inspiration from the Chinese cultural tradition of “round sky and square earth”. Upon closer inspection, the headlights are composed of crystal-like blocks, further enhancing the luxurious and elegant look of this sedan.

The Hongqi logo in the center can be retracted, and interestingly, it is tilted forward by 23.5 degrees, symbolizing the tilt of the Earth’s axis.

At the rear, the Hongqi Guoli retains a classic style but is more simplified compared to the front. The rear end stands out with its unique taillights that extend to the top edge of the trunk. Additionally, chrome accents further enhance the Guoli’s striking appearance.

Stepping inside the cabin, the Hongqi Guoli features a leather-clad interior with decorative accents bearing Chinese brand symbols, including the Hongqi Golden Sunflower logo on the steering wheel, gear knob, and armrest. The Guoli is equipped with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and dual screens comprising a digital instrument cluster and a central control display. Below the screen is a physical control unit for temperature adjustment. The center console also features a plethora of physical buttons and knobs, resulting in a rather complex-looking layout.

The Hongqi Guoli adopts a 2+2 seating configuration, with the rear seats offering a business-class experience, complete with armrests and electric adjustments for recline, leg rest, ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The armrest also incorporates a control panel.

In terms of powertrain, the Hongqi Guoli is equipped with a 4.0T turbocharged V8 engine that produces a maximum output of 388 horsepower and a peak torque of 530 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, the Guoli has a fuel consumption rate of 15.2L/100km and a top speed of 220 km/h.
