VinFast Auto Breaks Ground on Electric Vehicle Assembly Plant in Subang, West Java, Indonesia
The construction of this factory in one of the most promising electric vehicle markets in Southeast Asia will provide employment opportunities for the local workforce, underscoring VinFast’s strong commitment to its regional expansion strategy and its dedication to fostering Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry.
The VinFast electric vehicle assembly plant will be located in Subang, Indonesia’s new industrial powerhouse, with an initial investment of approximately $200 million. The VinFast factory is expected to have a production capacity of 50,000 units per year and will feature areas such as the Body Shop, Assembly Shop, Paint Shop, testing areas, and more.
The VinFast factory is slated to commence operations in Q4 2025 and will produce the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 models with right-hand drive configurations for the Indonesian market.
This project will also generate thousands of job opportunities for locals, increase the proportion of skilled labor, significantly contribute to the economic and social development of the local community, and play a crucial role in promoting green transportation in Indonesia.
General H.Moeldoko, Head of the Indonesian President’s Office, shared: “The presence of the VinFast factory in Subang will not only positively impact the local economy but also create new employment opportunities and improve the welfare of the community. The Indonesian government strongly encourages foreign investment, especially in the automotive industry.
