The Audi R8, the first commercial supercar from the renowned four interlocking rings brand, has been in production since 2006. After 18 illustrious years on the market, a respectable lifespan for a supercar, the R8’s journey came to an end in March this year.
This limited production run has made the Audi R8 a rare sight on the roads. Last night, however, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City witnessed the appearance of one such rarity – the Audi R8 V10 Spyder Facelift. Only two of these convertible supercars are known to exist in Vietnam.
Indeed, only two Audi R8 V10 Spyder Facelift convertibles were imported to Vietnam, and this particular one sports a sleek black exterior with a contrasting red soft top. The license plate, 51K-388.88, is what makes this car truly stand out – a coveted combination of numbers known as “quad-eight.”
This 2022 Audi R8 V10 Spyder found its owner shortly after arriving in the country. The lucky individual was a 30-something entrepreneur in the real estate business. After a few months of ownership, the car was sold, and the new owner was delighted to discover the unique license plate hidden under the original registration.
Interestingly, the previous owner of this 2022 Audi R8 V10 Spyder had also owned another R8 Spyder with a quad-eight license plate, 51F-588.88. That car is now part of the collection of Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu.
In contrast to the first Audi R8 V10 Spyder that arrived in Vietnam in a grey Kemora color, this black beauty with red soft top and carbon fiber accents once belonged to a renowned car collector in Saigon. The quad-eight license plate adds to its exclusivity and allure.
In addition to the two second-generation Audi R8 V10 Spyders, there is also a first-generation Audi R8 V10 Spyder in Vietnam, owned by none other than Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, one of the country’s top car collectors.
The Audi R8 V10 Spyder 2022 boasts a more captivating design than its predecessor, featuring new headlights and taillights, and aggressive front and rear diffusers. The fabric roof of the Spyder version adds convenience, as it can be opened or closed in just 14 to 18 seconds.
This feature contributes to the distinct personality of the Audi R8 V10 Spyder 2022 mid-life facelift. Owners can enjoy the thrill of open-top driving by lowering the roof while the car is in motion, as long as the speed stays below 50 km/h as recommended by Audi.
Under the hood of this Ho Chi Minh City businessman’s Audi R8 V10 Spyder Type 4S mid-life facelift beats a powerful 5.2-liter V10 engine, delivering an impressive 602 horsepower and 559 Nm of torque. Coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission, this supercar can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 328 km/h.
With its combination of sleek design, powerful performance, and a unique license plate, this Audi R8 V10 Spyder is sure to turn heads wherever it goes in Vietnam’s bustling city streets or open roads.
