The BYD Song L DM-I: A Plug-in Hybrid with an Impressive All-Electric Range

On July 25, BYD unveiled two new models: the Song L DM-I and Song Plus. Among them, the Song L has garnered significant attention as an entirely new product, offering a compact size and the PHEV fifth-generation system.

The BYD Song L DM-I quickly gained popularity among Chinese customers. Within the first 72 hours, BYD received approximately 20,000 new orders for the Song L DM-i.

The Song L DM-I boasts dimensions of 4,780 x 1,898 x 1,670 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,782 mm. Its design is similar to the electric-only BYD Song, but with a refined front end featuring a larger grille, dual-eye headlights, and a chrome strip in the shape of wings.

At the rear, the taillights retain the knot-tying pattern, connected by an LED strip. The center features the abbreviated brand name, similar to international market models. The 19-inch wheels have a two-tone black and silver finish with a five-spoke design.

The Song L PHEV offers three interior color options: black, gray, and brown. It features a 15.6-inch central display with touch-sensitive buttons for adjusting seat and climate settings. The D-cut steering wheel has three spokes and buttons for driving mode selection. Other notable features include 50W wireless phone charging, heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker audio system, and DiPilot driver assistance.

The BYD Song L DM-I is equipped with a PHEV system, combining a 1.5L gasoline engine producing 100 hp and 126 Nm with a 214 hp electric motor. It offers three battery options: 12.9, 18.3, and 26.6 kWh, providing all-electric ranges of 75, 112, and 160 km, respectively. Notably, the highest-spec configuration offers a total range of up to 1,500 km.

The BYD Song L PHEV is available in five variants, priced between 135,800 and 175,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 475 to 614 million VND).
