Toyota Vios and Honda City: August 2024 Promotions

These promotions are expected to boost the excitement in the B-segment sedan market, especially during a time when many Vietnamese citizens are anticipating the government’s policy of reducing the registration fee by 50% for domestically produced and assembled automobiles. While the B-segment sedans remain a popular choice in Vietnam, the economic downturn has caused a dip in sales compared to the same period last year.

In the first six months of 2024, the Toyota Vios sold a total of 4,215 units, while the Honda City sold 3,316 units. With these numbers, the Toyota Vios secured the second position in the segment, after the Hyundai Accent (4,988 units), and the Honda City ranked third.

The promotional offers from Honda City and Toyota Vios are likely to energize the B-segment sedan market.

In the B-segment sedan category, the Toyota Vios and Honda City are top choices due to their reputable brands, extensive dealer networks, compact designs, adequate features, and affordable price tags. The Toyota Vios, with its three versions, is priced between VND 458 million and VND 545 million. It boasts LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, a larger 9-inch central touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, a USB Type C port for rear passengers, seven airbags, a Pre-Collision System (PCS), and a Lane Departure Alert (LDA).

Under the hood, the Toyota Vios retains its 1.5L four-cylinder inline gasoline engine, delivering 107 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Honda City, priced higher at VND 559 million to VND 609 million, stands out with its advanced ADAS safety features as standard, including a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive High-beam Support (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and a Front Vehicle Start Notification (LCDN). The RS and L variants are also equipped with rear disc brakes.

Powering the Honda City is a 1.5L i-VTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
