Pagani Unveils the Utopia Roadster: An Exclusive Open-Top Hypercar

Pagani has recently introduced the Utopia Roadster, offering both hard and soft top options. Impressively, the Italian brand claims that this addition does not increase the weight of the car compared to its coupe counterpart, launched in September 2022.

Typically, convertible versions tend to be significantly heavier than their coupe variants, which can impact acceleration. However, Pagani’s engineers worked diligently to maintain the Utopia Roadster’s weight at 1,280 kg, identical to the coupe. This achievement stems from the simultaneous development of both versions, sharing the same chassis and powertrain.

Due to a focus on weight reduction, the Utopia Roadster forgoes an electric roof mechanism, common in many other convertibles. The hardtop can be manually removed but cannot be stored within the car when not in use. Conversely, the soft top can be conveniently folded and stored in a suitcase located behind the seats. Owners also have the option of using a carbon-fiber-clad suitcase, neatly placed in a dedicated compartment next to the engine.

In terms of design, the Utopia Roadster retains the distinctive features of the coupe version. This hypercar exudes a minimalist yet modern aesthetic. The aerodynamic elements are subtly integrated, preserving the striking raised lines on the body. One of the Utopia’s standout features is its dual-aspect door design, allowing the doors to detach from the body and rotate upwards.

The rear of the car is highlighted by turbine-inspired taillights and an enormous elliptical wing, ensuring stability at high speeds.

Pagani offers extensive customization options for Utopia Roadster buyers, including the Sport Pack configuration from the coupe. The displayed car showcases a Habanero Red carbon fiber exterior, complemented by Aeroblade carbon fiber wheels.

Under the hood, the Pagani Utopia Roadster is equipped with a 6.0L V12 engine, handcrafted by AMG, delivering 852 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque. This powerplant is paired with a 7-speed Xtrac gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

The hypercar also features an active suspension system and Pirelli Cyber Tyre electronic tire sensors. This technology, compatible with Pirelli P Zero Corsa, Winter, and Trofeo RS tires, enables the transmission of information from the tires to the electronic stability control and traction control systems.

The Pagani Utopia Roadster will make its debut at the Monterey Car Week in the US. According to the Italian brand, this open-top model is limited to just 130 units worldwide, carrying a starting price of approximately $3.4 million, excluding additional options.
