At 10:18 pm, Mr. D.T, the owner of a Porsche 911, posted a request to find a pre-owned Ferrari for leisure. He specified that the car should not have been in any accidents and could be purchased from a private owner or a showroom. A generous commission was offered to anyone who could help source the car. The post attracted nearly 100 comments, with various Ferrari models being offered, ranging from the 488, F8, to the 296.
A few days later, Mr. T revealed that he had inspected four cars but was not satisfied with any of them. Some of the pre-owned cars were almost brand new but were priced similarly to a brand-new car from the dealership. Others were within his budget but had been in accidents. He was particularly interested in the 488 GTB model but kept hearing the same response—it would be challenging to purchase one through the current owner.
Despite scouring countless online listings and visiting numerous showrooms, Mr. Duy couldn’t find a Ferrari 488 GTB that met his requirements. He later learned that someone had been acquiring these cars since last year, which explained their scarcity. Like Mr. D.T, he was drawn to the Ferrari 488 models due to their discontinued status and more affordable price point.
In reality, the reason why these two customers were specifically looking for Ferrari 488s was that the model had been phased out quite some time ago, and the price would be below 1.1 billion VND, making it a great option for those seeking a thrilling driving experience without breaking the bank. As for the F8, there aren’t many of them on the market. The only white-plated Ferrari F8 Spider available for sale is priced at 2.7 billion VND, equivalent to a brand-new car from the dealership.
Ferrari California and Ferrari F12 Berlinetta: Two More Additions to Mr. Vu’s Collection
A significant number of the 488 models were imported into the country, making it the most popular Ferrari variant with nearly 18 units available. Most of them are the standard 488 GTB, along with three convertible 488 Spiders and four high-performance versions, including one 488 Pista Coupe and three convertibles.
The mysterious buyer that Mr. D.T and Mr. Duy kept hearing about could very well be Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, the Chairman of Trung Nguyen. Over the past two years, this businessman has spent hundreds of billions of VND on acquiring various Ferrari models. Among his collection, “Mr.” Vu currently owns more than eight Ferrari 488s, including multiple standard editions, the one-of-a-kind 488 Pista Coupe in Vietnam previously owned by a very discreet millionaire, and the 488 Pista Spider.
Mr. Vu’s Impressive Collection of Over Eight Ferrari 488s
Currently, there are only three Ferrari 488 GTBs available for sale in the market, according to Mr. D.T. Two of them are located in Ho Chi Minh City and are priced at 9.5 billion VND each, while a customized 488 GTB with Misha Design body kits is listed at 13 billion VND. Additionally, there’s another Ferrari 488 GTB for sale in Da Nang, but its availability is inconsistent. “I’ll have to explore other exciting supercar options in the market. Hunting for a pristine pre-owned Ferrari these days is like searching for a needle in a haystack.”
If one is open to exploring other supercar brands, there are plenty of options available from McLaren, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin, with prices ranging from 7 billion to 17 billion VND.
