Haunting Images of Abandoned Electric Cars in the US Spark Online Interest

Recently, a set of photos capturing a “cemetery of electric cars” in the US has garnered significant attention online.

As seen in the shared images, a multitude of electric cars are piled up, seemingly discarded and left to deteriorate. Due to prolonged exposure to the elements, most of the vehicles appear severely damaged and in a state of disrepair.

These cars, known as the Solo EV, were produced by ElectraMeccanica between 2018 and 2023.

The Solo EV is a unique, three-wheeled, single-seater vehicle designed for urban mobility with an environmentally friendly focus.

At its launch, the car had a starting price of a staggering 18,000 USD (approximately 453.9 million VND). However, in 2022, the Solo EV faced criticism from customers who reported frequent breakdowns during operation.

In early 2023, the company announced the discontinuation of the Solo EV model and recalled almost all vehicles sold in the US (approximately 428 units) due to unexplained performance issues.

The recalled vehicles, deemed beyond repair, ended up stacked like trash, as seen in the viral social media post.
