Mitsubishi Xforce 2024 Achieves Top Safety Rating from ASEAN NCAP with Near-Perfect Scores
The ASEAN NCAP, or the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia, is the region’s most prestigious and globally recognized safety standard. Its evaluation results serve as a crucial source of information for customers to make informed vehicle purchases, while also assisting manufacturers in further refining their products.
Recently, ASEAN NCAP announced that the new Mitsubishi Xforce 2024, a B-segment CUV, has excelled in their assessments, earning a 5-star rating. The vehicle aced all safety tests with near-perfect scores. Specifically, it achieved 87% in Adult Occupant Protection, 85% in Child Occupant Protection, 74% in Safety Assist, and 62% in Motorcyclist Safety. These figures surpass the minimum requirements set by ASEAN NCAP for a favorable 5-star overall rating.
According to experts, the Xforce not only boasts an eye-catching design but also features a superior safety technology package compared to its competitors in the segment. Notable highlights include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation, automatic headlights, and a lead vehicle start notification. It also offers blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, along with the RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body structure, which helps absorb shock and minimize cabin deformation in collisions.
Additionally, the Xforce comes equipped with Wet Mode, which optimizes the vehicle’s traction on wet roads by adjusting the sensitivity of the throttle and steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to maintain control.
Positioned in the crossover/SUV B-segment, the Mitsubishi Xforce goes head-to-head with rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and MG ZS. This new entrant from Mitsubishi has dimensions of 4,390 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, along with a 2,650 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 222 mm.
The Xforce’s interior and exterior designs are almost identical to the XFC Concept that the Japanese automaker unveiled in Vietnam last year. Overall, this CUV exudes a modern and robust aesthetic, thanks to Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield design language.
The standard model features full LED headlights and taillights, a shark fin antenna, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Higher-end variants offer additional enhancements, such as LED fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a two-tone exterior color scheme.
The Xforce’s interior boasts a modern design, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and an 8-inch instrument cluster seamlessly integrated behind the steering wheel. It supports wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The entertainment system stands out with its Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium 8-speaker setup.
The top-of-the-line trim offers an array of luxurious conveniences, including dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, a nanoe X air purification system, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, electronic parking brakes with auto hold, and a hands-free power tailgate, which is incredibly convenient when your hands are full.
Under the hood, the Xforce is powered by a 1.5L MIVEC 4-cylinder engine, delivering 105 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.
