According to information from the Registration Office, nearly 1,900 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Vietnamese market will need to be recalled to inspect and fix electrical system errors. These cars were imported and distributed by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) and manufactured from June 2019 to December 2022.
Specifically, a total of 1,871 cars are subject to this recall, including the GLS 450 4MATIC, GLE 450 4MATIC, AMG GLE 53 4MATIC, Maybach GLS 480 4MATIC, and Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC models.
The recall notice states that the negative connection point (negative terminal) of the 48V battery’s electrical wiring to the body, located under the front passenger seat, may have been loosened during assembly. As a result, the resistance of the connection could increase, potentially leading to heat buildup in this area.
To address this issue, MBV will initiate a recall of the affected vehicles to inspect the assembly of the aforementioned negative connection point, as well as perform repairs and replacements if necessary, as a precautionary measure.
Mercedes-Benz owners within the affected range are advised to contact their dealer for inspection and repairs following the specified standards. The inspection and repair process is entirely free of charge and takes approximately one hour per vehicle.
Since the beginning of 2024, MBV has had to initiate several recall campaigns for its vehicles in the Vietnamese market. Some common reasons for Mercedes-Benz recalls in 2024 include fuel pump issues, software glitches causing transmission control module failures, fuse box problems, and, most recently, incidents related to the 48V battery resulting in electrical system faults.
