The Ultimate Supercar Showdown: Ferrari 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale – A Tale of Two Icons Cut Short

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is an exceptional supercar that sits in a unique segment—above a supercar but below a hypercar. It is also Ferrari’s first commercial plug-in hybrid supercar. However, as of today, the SF90 Stradale is no more, as the iconic Italian supercar manufacturer has decided to discontinue this model.

Ferrari revealed the fate of the SF90 in its Q2 financial report. The company also noted that deliveries of the SF90 XX Stradale have recently commenced. There was no mention of the SF90 Spider in the report, so it is likely that it will continue to be produced for the time being.

The SF90 Stradale is not the only Prancing Horse model being discontinued. The 812 GTS is also reaching the end of its lifecycle and will be replaced by a new model. Interestingly, Ferrari also stated that sales of the Roma and 812 Competizione decreased in Q2 as they are also nearing the end of their lifecycles.

The Ferrari 812 GTS, recently ordered by the renowned “Qua” Vu, has also been discontinued, sharing the same fate as the SF90 Stradale.

While the SF90 Stradale’s retirement is relatively quiet, Ferrari is already working on its replacement. A prototype of the new model was spotted testing in August 2023, and although details are limited, it is speculated to share the same powertrain as the SF90, albeit with upgrades. This suggests that it will feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine working in conjunction with three electric motors.

The discontinuation of the 812 comes as no surprise, as it has been superseded by the 12Cilindri, which has also caught the attention of the prominent coffee entrepreneur, Dang Le Nguyen Vu. According to internal sources, he has recently purchased a Ferrari 812 GTS, which has now arrived in Vietnam.

Lastly, a replacement for the Roma is also rumored to be in the works, although details are scarce. It is known, however, that the Roma Spider is generating significant interest, and one has already been officially imported into the country, awaiting its first owner.
