The Audi R8, sharing technology with the Lamborghini Gallardo/Huracan, has gained popularity for its stunning design and easy upgrade options. After two generations, Audi has ceased production of the R8 as of April 2024. |
A recent video circulating on social media captured an Audi R8 involved in a high-speed accident. The incident occurred around 11:35 am on June 2nd in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Southeast England. |
Failing to control its speed, the Audi R8 collided with the rear of an Audi A5, causing the sedan to spin 180 degrees. Images from the scene show extensive damage to the front of the supercar, while both drivers escaped with minor injuries. |
|
According to Tri Thức – Znews, the Audi R8 involved in the incident is a 2019 R8 V10 Performance model. This particular car is often spotted in the Aylesbury area. |
The owner of this R8 is a regular at supercar events and has even featured their car in a popular YouTube video, pitting it against the Aprilia RSV4 superbike. |
According to the owner, the Audi R8 has been modified with a twin-turbo system from QSTuning and SRD Tuning, boosting its power to 800 horsepower. |
However, despite its impressive power, the twin-turbo R8 struggled to keep up with the 220 horsepower superbike, managing a 0-60 mph time of only 3.95 seconds. |
The R8 was later upgraded to produce over 1,200 horsepower. Operating a vehicle with such power at high speeds on public roads is unacceptable and extremely dangerous. |
Compared to the pre-facelift Audi R8 V10 Plus, the 2019 Audi R8 V10 Performance boasts a more aggressive front bumper design with triangular motifs, similar to the Lamborghini Huracan Evo. |
The owner of this R8 has further enhanced its appearance with red-painted wheels and a large swan-neck rear wing, inspired by the Audi R8 LMS GT4 race car. |
In its original form, the Audi R8 V10 Performance is equipped with a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 engine, producing 620 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, slightly less than the Huracan Evo’s 640 horsepower. |
This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission and Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi has no plans to “resurrect” the iconic R8 as a pure electric vehicle, despite previously launching the R8 e-tron in 2009. |
