Unveiling the Voyah Zhiyin: The Electric SUV Powerhouse from the Renowned Truck Manufacturer in Vietnam with an Impressive 901 km Range and Rapid Charging Capabilities

The Chinese electric vehicle industry is witnessing explosive growth, and their electric car offerings are now surpassing their global competitors in terms of range. While other automakers offer an average range of 400-700 km on a single charge, Chinese automakers are pushing the boundaries with ranges exceeding 850 km and even reaching over 1,000 km.

This addresses a significant concern for consumers who worry about running out of charge on the road without access to charging stations. Voyah, a subsidiary of Dongfeng, a well-known brand in Vietnam for its trucks, has recently unveiled an impressive electric SUV, the Voyah Zhiyin, which boasts a range of up to 901 km. This vehicle has garnered attention from both domestic customers and international media.

With the automotive industry in China undergoing electrification, Voyah, a dedicated electric vehicle brand, has introduced its newest model, the Zhiyin. Voyah, as a subsidiary of Dongfeng, carries a reputation for producing reliable trucks, which are popular in the Vietnamese market. The launch of the Zhiyin marks a significant step forward for the brand.

On August 5, Voyah unveiled four variants of the Zhiyin, although pricing details have not yet been disclosed. This is the first Voyah model designed with a global audience in mind, reflecting the brand’s ambition to expand its presence in international markets.

Exterior Design

The Voyah Zhiyin is exclusively offered as an electric vehicle and is built upon Dongfeng’s Intelligent Electric Safe Architecture (ESSA). It will be equipped with the latest generation of the “Lanhai Power-BEV” system.

As the fourth model in the Voyah lineup, the Zhiyin continues the brand’s family-oriented design language. A notable feature is the through-lights at both the front and rear. At the front, these lights seamlessly integrate with the Voyah logo.

Interestingly, the rear wheels feature a black surround, while the front wheels do not. There’s also a distinctive shark fin-like detail cutting into the D-pillar. The side body lines are intriguing, with a ribbed design on the door panels and a faux-wide rear wheel design that adds a sporty touch.

The Voyah Zhiyin features a black roof design above the window line and roof rails for added functionality. At the rear, there’s a rather large mudguard, but the tailgate also appears quite tall.

In terms of dimensions, the Voyah Zhiyin measures 4,725 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. The curb weight for the different variants will be 2,099 kg, 2,145 kg, and 2,227 kg.

Interior

At first glance, the interior appears to feature a large infotainment screen mounted on the dashboard. However, there’s also a small instrument panel embedded around the air vents, along with a heads-up display on the windshield.

The Voyah Zhiyin showcases a sophisticated interior with frameless doors and lavish leather upholstery. It is believed to be equipped with a smart cockpit and Huawei’s intelligent driving system.

The center armrest offers ample storage space, and the two-spoke steering wheel adds a touch of elegance. All seats come with headrests, and the center console features two wireless charging pads, cup holders, and an armrest with generous storage space.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the Voyah Zhiyin is powered by the latest generation of the pure electric Lanhai engine and an 800V electric drive system.

The Voyah Zhiyin SUV will be available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive variants. The four-wheel-drive model is equipped with a 76.9 kWh/77.3 kWh battery, delivering a maximum power output of 160 kWh and offering a range of 570 km.

The two-wheel-drive version comes with two battery options. One variant features the same battery as the four-wheel-drive model, producing a maximum power of 215 kilowatts and offering a range of 625 km.

Additionally, there’s another battery option, a three-level lithium battery supplied by CATL, with capacities of 78.7 kWh and 108.7 kWh.

These configurations provide ranges of 650 km and 901 km, respectively. Moreover, the new model will also feature 5C fast-charging technology, enabling it to charge enough power for a 515-km range in just 15 minutes.

The Voyah Zhiyin plays a pivotal role in the brand’s “Let’s Voyah” strategy, aiming to expand its presence to 60 countries across six continents and achieve annual sales of 500,000 units by 2030. It also marks the brand’s first SUV with a more conventional exterior design.
