Just before 2:43 pm on August 8, 2024, a horrific multi-vehicle collision occurred on the Phu My Bridge in Thanh My Loi Ward, Thu Duc City. This incident, involving seven cars, was captured by a surveillance camera.

According to initial reports, at the aforementioned time, vehicles were traveling on the Phu My Bridge from District 7 towards Thu Duc City. Suddenly, a truck collided with the central reservation and careened into the path of oncoming traffic.

Consequently, two passenger cars, a Toyota and a Volvo, were pushed forward and collided with a container truck. Unfortunately, the Volvo luxury car burst into flames due to the impact.

Quickly responding to the situation, nearby residents rushed to the aid of the trapped Volvo driver. They managed to extinguish the fire, smash the windshield, and pull the driver to safety. However, shortly after the rescue, the car was engulfed in flames once again.

The crash site presented a grim picture, with all seven vehicles severely damaged. The Toyota, Volvo, and the truck’s cabin were completely burned, leaving only charred frames. Debris from the collision was scattered across the bridge.

Firefighters and rescue teams arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. The accident caused significant traffic congestion on the Phu My Bridge for several hours. It wasn’t until around 6:30 pm that the accident site was cleared, and traffic flow returned to normal.
The authorities are currently investigating the cause of this tragic multi-vehicle collision.
