As we move past the halfway mark of 2024, dealerships are still holding inventory of 2023-manufactured (VIN 2023) vehicles, including the Isuzu Mu-X mid-size SUV.
To clear out these older models, Isuzu dealerships in Hanoi have been offering significant discounts since early August 2024. The highest trim, the Isuzu Mu-X Premium 4×4, has seen price cuts of up to 200 million VND, bringing its selling price down to 1.055 billion VND. This price point now rivals the starting prices of competitors like the Toyota Fortuner (1.055 billion VND) and the Ford Everest (1.099 billion VND).
Other dealerships are also offering promotions on the 2023 VIN Isuzu Mu-X Premium, but with slightly lower discounts ranging from 150 to 170 million VND. The Mu-X currently holds the title for offering the highest incentives in Vietnam’s mid-size SUV segment.
The Isuzu Mu-X Premium is offered with varying discounts across dealerships.
Aside from the Premium, the Isuzu Mu-X is also available in three lower trims: B7, B7 Plus, and Prestige. Their respective prices are 911 million, 999 million, and 1.15 billion VND.
The Isuzu Mu-X has never been a top-seller in the Vietnamese market. In the first half of 2024, it recorded cumulative sales of just 85 units, making it the lowest-selling model in its segment. It also ranked among the 10 worst-selling cars in Vietnam during the same period.
The Isuzu Mu-X has seen modest sales figures in Vietnam.
The Mu-X’s lackluster performance can be attributed to its uninspiring design. Even the highest trim, which offers features like smart entry, remote engine start, automatic climate control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, intelligent brake system, automatic high-beam headlights, tire pressure monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, pre-collision warning, parking sensors, and autonomous emergency braking, struggles to attract buyers.

Under the hood, the Isuzu Mu-X is powered by a 1.9-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,800 and 2,600 rpm. The top-spec model pairs this engine with a 4WD system and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The lower trims come with RWD and either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox.
