With just one month to go until the Gumball 3000 2024 supercar event kicks off, preparations are in full swing, including organizing and transporting vehicles to the starting point for the much-anticipated launch on September 14, 2024, in Vietnam.
Recently, Mr. Maximillion Cooper, the founder of Gumball 3000, arrived in Cambodia as part of the promotional activities for the world’s largest supercar event. He was greeted at the airport by a stunning display of supercars owned by Cambodian tycoons.
Among the Cambodian tycoons’ collection, a pair of Bugatti Chirons stood out, including a standard model and the limited-edition Bugatti Chiron Super Sport. Only 60 Chiron Super Sport models were produced globally, and this particular car is the third to be spotted in the ASEAN market, following one in Singapore and another owned by the Prince of Johor, Malaysia.
The exterior of the Cambodian-registered Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, owned by a Chinese collector, features exposed carbon fiber, a costly and exclusive option that underscores the car’s prestige and value. Even a minor scratch on this exposed carbon fiber body would be a costly affair.
This particular Chiron Super Sport also sports some green accents, most notably the bold number 88 on the grille and the same number combination on its license plate, 88.JP.88. The car sits on black five-spoke wheels with green calipers, adding a unique touch to its overall appearance.
The French automaker produced only 60 units of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport worldwide, each carrying a price tag of $3.9 million, roughly equivalent to 90 billion Vietnamese dong, which is $1.3 million more than the standard model. It is estimated that over 20 of these exclusive vehicles are currently in Asia.
Under the hood, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport boasts a powerful W16 engine with a displacement of 8.0 liters and four turbochargers, delivering an astonishing 1,578 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. However, the car’s top speed has been limited to 440 km/h by the manufacturer to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
In addition to the two Bugatti Chirons, Mr. Cooper’s arrival in Cambodia was marked by the presence of numerous other supercars, sports cars, and luxury vehicles from renowned brands such as Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Nissan, Mazda, and BMW.
This year’s Gumball 3000, the world’s largest supercar event, will commence in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on September 14 and 15, 2024. From there, the convoy will proceed to Cambodia before making its way to Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
In conjunction with the Gumball 3000 event in Vietnam, Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu has generously sponsored the event with a contribution of 200,000 British Pounds, equivalent to 5.93 billion Vietnamese dong. Mr. Vu will also be presenting 18 cars for display, including 15 Ferraris and a trio of supercars comprising a Bugatti Veyron, a Ford GT, and a Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition. These vehicles will be on static display and will not participate in the rally.
