The Kia Sportage Facelift: An Exciting Update to a Popular CUV
The Kia Sportage, with its youthful redesign and array of modern interior features, quickly gained popularity among consumers upon its 5th-generation release in 2021. Currently, the Sportage is one of Kia’s best-selling models globally. To maintain its competitive edge, Kia is highly focused on upgrading this mid-size CUV. According to sources, the facelift version of the Sportage is expected to be released by the end of this year or early next year.
In July, the 2025 Kia Sportage was spotted undergoing testing at the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany, partially concealed by camouflage. However, the images and leaks revealed some design changes compared to the previous version. Based on this information, Kolesa.ru created a rendering of the anticipated design for the new Kia Sportage.
The most noticeable change in the 2025 Sportage will likely be the daytime running lights, redesigned in the shape of a star map, similar to the Carnival model. This replaces the previous crescent-shaped design. Additionally, the grille has been revamped for a more angular appearance.
The front bumper and lower air intake have also been redesigned with vertical fog lights and a central air vent in the shape of a trapezoid. However, this detail has received mixed reviews due to its lack of emphasis.
At the rear, the Kia Sportage facelift features redesigned taillights and a simplified rear bumper, eliminating some unnecessary decorative elements.
As of now, there have been no leaks or official information regarding the powertrain of the new Kia Sportage. In Vietnam, this model is currently offered with three engine options: a 2.0L gasoline engine, a 2.0L diesel engine, and a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine. The hybrid version of the Kia Sportage has not yet been introduced to the Vietnamese market by Thaco.
In the first half of this year, the Kia Sportage sold 1,001 units, falling behind its competitors: Mazda CX-5 (5,270 units), Ford Territory (2,949 units), Honda CR-V (2,338 units), and Hyundai Tucson (2,084 units).
