Images of the compact Wuling Hongguang MPV have recently surfaced in the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s MIIT application catalog. This is a necessary step towards the vehicle’s launch. The new model is equipped with a range-extended 1.5-liter engine, delivering a maximum power output of 73 kW.

Previously, the all-new Wuling Hongguang, powered by fuel and pure electricity, was also revealed. The pure electric version is estimated to offer a range of 300 km. The official guide price for the Wuling Hongguang ranges from 46,500 RMB to 60,900 RMB (6,500 – 8,500 USD).

Older version of Wuling Hongguang sold previously

In the Vietnamese market, Wuling currently offers only the Hongguang MiniEV line. Therefore, introducing the compact MPV Wuling Hongguang would be a significant challenge for the Chinese automaker, as they would be competing with the market leader, the Mitsubishi Xpander.

The exterior of the Wuling Hongguang EREV retains the same design as the pure electric and gasoline versions. All three models feature a sleek and minimalist design for 2025, marking a departure from the older 2024 model. The new model also boasts a significantly larger windshield compared to its 2024 counterpart.

The rear maintains a minimalist design with vertically arranged taillights. The large rear door facilitates convenient loading and unloading of cargo. From the rear, it is almost impossible to distinguish whether the vehicle is powered by fuel, a range extender, or pure electricity.

In terms of body size, the dimensions of the 2025 Wuling Hongguang include a length, width, and height of 4515/1725/1790 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm.

Under the hood, the Wuling Hongguang is fitted with a 1.5-liter LBH engine from Saike Tech, generating a maximum power output of 73 kW (98 hp). The power output of the electric motor remains undisclosed. As for the battery, it is an LFP 8.5 kWh unit produced by Ningfu New Energy or RPSK, offering a range of 43 km.

The Wuling Hongguang has a long history in the Chinese automotive industry, with its debut dating back to 2010. In the first decade of its market presence, nearly 5 million units were sold. Hongguang was marketed towards second-tier cities such as Harbin and Kunming, which boast large small business districts, making them ideal target markets for the vehicle.

The 2025 Wuling Hongguang signifies another evolution for this model, as the new generation introduces an electric version for the first time. Positioned as a compact MPV, the current Wuling Hongguang offers both cargo and passenger variants.

Wuling has achieved tremendous success with the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, selling over 1.1 million units. It remains to be seen if they can replicate this triumph with their newest offering.
