The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona: An Electric Muscle Car with Up to 680 Horsepower
Making its debut in March this year, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona has quickly gained attention from customers. For the first time, this model is offered with an electric powertrain, replacing the iconic V8 engine that has made its name in muscle cars.
Recently, the Stellantis group announced that the Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack 2-door versions have entered production in the second quarter of this year. The prices for these versions are $59,595 (approximately 1.5 billion VND) and $73,190 (approximately 1.8 billion VND), respectively. Meanwhile, the 4-door versions of the Charger Daytona R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack will go into production in early 2025.
The Charger Daytona 2024 is developed based on Stellantis’ new STLA Large platform. Its dimensions are 5,248 x 2,028 x 1,497 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,074 mm. With such large dimensions, it’s no surprise that this electric muscle car weighs in at 2,648 kg.
The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T 2-door comes standard with the Direct Connection Stage 1 performance package, offering 503 horsepower and 548 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2-door Scat Pack version is upgraded with the Direct Connection Stage package, delivering up to 680 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. All-wheel drive is standard across all versions.
In its highest configuration, this pure electric muscle car accelerates from 0 to 97 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 220 km/h.
This electric model is equipped with a 93.9 kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric range of 510 km for the standard version and 418 km for the Scat Pack version. It also features a 350 kW fast charger that can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 27 minutes.
For customers who love the sound of a revving engine, the Charger Daytona comes with Dodge’s Fratzonic Chambered “fake exhaust” system, which gives the electric car a loud sound similar to that of a Hellcat. The sound varies depending on the driving mode.
In terms of design, the Dodge Charger has a classic muscle car look with square LED headlights, reminiscent of the fifth-generation Charger that debuted in 1981. Another highlight is the three-winged Fratzog logo, inspired by the Dodges of the 1960s.
On the inside, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona features a standard 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster or a 16-inch optional one. It also comes with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen that integrates Dodge’s Uconnect 5 infotainment system.
The new Dodge Charger will be assembled at the Windsor plant in Ontario, Canada. The first deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2024.
