The Great Customer ‘Pimp My Ride’: Will a Sunroof Modification on a New VinFast VF3 Cause Issues at the Vehicle Inspection?

The VF3 is VinFast's smallest and most affordable car, and while it may not have a sunroof, one adventurous owner decided to take matters into their own hands. With a bold move, they transformed their compact ride by cutting off the roof and creating a unique open-air experience. This creative modification adds a whole new dimension to the VF3, offering a sense of freedom and a connection to the great outdoors. It's a daring twist to an already captivating vehicle, proving that sometimes, thinking outside the box can lead to extraordinary results.

VinFast VF3, the small SUV from VinFast, was officially handed over to customers who had pre-ordered it earlier this August. Soon after taking delivery of their vehicles, some VF3 owners started modifying their cars with custom wheels, seats, Android screens, lighting, and even color changes. However, the owner of the VF3 featured in this article has taken it a step further with a unique modification that has surprised many.

Specifically, the seats of this VF3 have been removed, and the roof has been cut off to create a convertible with a panoramic sky view.

The VF3 is VinFast’s smallest and most affordable offering, and as such, a panoramic sky view is not among its standard features. Feeling confined within the compact space of the small SUV, the owner of this VF3 decided to go big by cutting off the roof and adding a panoramic sky view.

This bold modification has raised concerns among some about the vehicle’s ability to pass future vehicle inspections. However, this worry is unfounded for now, as the car is new and won’t need to be inspected again until 2027.

Converting the VF3 into a convertible comes with certain risks. If the modification is not performed by a skilled technician, improper wiring could lead to unforeseen issues. Additionally, the glass panoramic sky view can increase the temperature inside the vehicle.

The VinFast VF3 is currently available in nine colors, including four basic colors: white, red, dark blue, and gray. The remaining five colors are considered premium options: yellow, pink-purple, light green, light blue, and pink. For an additional cost of 15 million VND, customers can also choose from a range of custom colors and exterior decorations.

The VF3, an electric vehicle made in Vietnam, is priced at 235 million VND (with a battery lease) or 315 million VND (with a battery purchase). These prices make it an attractive option for those seeking an affordable yet feature-rich electric car.

Powering the VF3 is an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, delivering a maximum output of 32 kW (approximately 43 horsepower) and a peak torque of 110 Nm. This setup enables the VF3 to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

The motor is paired with a lithium-ion battery pack that has a usable capacity of 18.64 kWh. This battery provides a range of 210 km on a single charge, as per the NEDC standard. Charging the battery from 10% to 70% takes 5 hours with a slow charger and only 36 minutes with a fast charger.
