It’s hard to find a car that can truly rival the Honda S2000. The engineering behind it is remarkable, it’s extremely reliable, and if you’re looking for one in almost brand-new condition, you won’t find a more pristine example than this.
This 1999 Honda S2000, originally from the Japanese market, is now being offered for sale at a dealership in the US. Its odometer reads just 745 miles, or 1,200 kilometers. That’s an average of just 48 kilometers per year, or 4 kilometers per month. Stories of low-mileage cars are not uncommon, and this one is no exception.
This right-hand-drive Honda S2000, imported to the US, boasts a powerful engine capable of producing approximately 250 horsepower and 153 lb-ft (208 Nm) of torque. The rear-wheel-drive car transmits this power through a six-speed manual transmission. The entire vehicle weighs around 2,777 pounds (1,260 kg).
Aside from its low mileage, impressive powertrain, and excellent condition, this car is also all original. This is a rare find for any Japanese performance car from this era. There’s a lot to love about this little convertible, but there’s also one big catch.
As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you want to own this iconic JDM sports car, the Honda S2000, you’ll need to shell out a minimum of $120,000, which is equivalent to 2.8 billion VND. That’s the price of a brand new Porsche 911 Carrera. It’s even more expensive than a brand new Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
In fact, it’s a few thousand dollars more than a brand new Ariel Atom 4, which is undoubtedly a much more powerful car, although less practical for daily use.
During the height of the pandemic-driven price craziness, an S2000 CR 2009 with less than 200 miles on the clock sold for $200,000. So, the asking price of $120,000 for this Honda S2000 isn’t too far-fetched.
