Toyota and Hyundai Maintain Their Lead as Vietnam’s Best-Selling Auto Brands for July 2024
According to sales reports from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), Vietnam’s automobile market witnessed a total sales volume of 28,920 units in July 2024, marking a 9% increase from the previous month and a 17% surge compared to the same period last year.
Domestic assembled car sales reached 13,788 units, a 6% rise from the previous month, while imported completely built-up (CBU) car sales stood at 15,132 units, an 11% increase month-on-month.
Notably, Toyota retained its top position in terms of sales for July, with a total of 6,479 units sold.
Trailing behind, Hyundai managed to secure second place, delivering a total of 4,450 vehicles in July 2024, approximately 2,000 units less than Toyota.
Mitsubishi surpassed Ford to claim the third spot, with impressive sales of 3,835 units, reflecting a remarkable 32% growth.
The primary contributor to Mitsubishi’s sales growth in July was the Xforce model. Xforce set a new sales record for the month, selling 1,748 units, more than 1.8 times the sales of the previous month. This achievement propelled Xforce to the top spot, making it the best-selling car for July.
Ford ranked fourth, with sales of 3,150 vehicles. Despite Mitsubishi’s significant lead in July, Ford maintained a cumulative sales advantage for the first seven months of 2024, leading Mitsubishi by over 2,000 units.
This fluctuation in rankings can be attributed to the unexpected dip in sales of Ford’s flagship model, the Ranger, which dropped from first place in June to fifth place in July.
Kia, Mazda, and Honda followed suit, securing the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, respectively, with monthly sales figures of 2,679, 2,503, and 2,406 units.
