The luxury large sedan segment in Vietnam boasts a trio of renowned brands: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8L. While the Lexus LS is also a contender, its high price tag has made it less appealing to consumers. Among these three powerhouses, the British-made car seems to fall behind in terms of features, despite its competitive pricing.
It’s intriguing to note that many wealthy individuals have hastily sold their new Audi A8L vehicles just months after purchase. Prominent figures like Minh “Nhựa” and Cường “Đô-la” are notable examples, having owned their cars for only two and nine months, respectively. However, when it comes to quick disenchantment, a tycoon from Dong Thap province takes the cake.
In a recent development, a car dealer in Ho Chi Minh City has listed for sale an Audi A8L with a Dong Thap province license plate. The vehicle was first registered in July 2024, indicating that its owner only enjoyed it for about a month before putting it up for sale. The car’s odometer displays a mere 1,300 kilometers, suggesting it’s almost as good as new, and the asking price is over 3 billion VND, although some sources indicate it could be closer to 4 billion VND.
The production year of this large luxury sedan remains unknown, but it’s worth noting that some 2022 models are currently available from authorized dealers for 4.3 billion VND, excluding on-road costs. Initially, the Audi A8L had a price tag of over 6 billion VND.
It’s important to mention that the resale price of this Audi A8L is set by a car dealer, so it’s likely that the original owner incurred a loss of over 1 billion VND, depending on whether the car is a 2022 or 2023 model.
For those considering purchasing the new Audi A8L, the vehicle offered by the Dong Thap tycoon is worth serious contemplation. Despite being labeled as used, it’s practically brand new, having only clocked 1,300 kilometers. Additionally, you’d only need to pay 2% for the name change fee, compared to the 10% registration fee for a new car, not to mention other potential savings. It’s also possible that the car already has a heat-insulating film and PPF applied, which could cost upwards of 100 million VND.
Under the hood, this Audi A8L is equipped with a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine that delivers an impressive 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque between 1,370 and 4,500 rpm. The car also boasts an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Audi’s legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive system with a standard central differential lock. This powerful combination enables the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
