There’s just one month to go until the world’s largest supercar rally, Gumball 3000, kicks off, and Vietnam will be the starting point for this incredible event. On September 14 and 15, 2024, a local car enthusiast has sponsored £200,000, equivalent to 5.93 billion VND, to host the rally.
The businessman, Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, has also revealed that 18 cars will be on display, including 15 Ferraris and three other supercars: a Bugatti Veyron, a Ford GT, and a Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition. Mr. Vu is an avid car collector and enthusiast.
While Mr. Vu’s collection for the Gumball 3000 display is impressive, car enthusiasts will be disappointed that his two hypercars, the McLaren Senna and Porsche 918 Spyder, will remain in the garage. There are speculations about why he chose to exclude these cars, with their license plates believed to be a major factor.
However, as the event only involves displaying the cars and not driving them, it is possible to transport the hypercars separately and display them without the need for license plates. They could bear the Trung Nguyen logo or a Gumball 3000 emblem, complementing the Bugatti Veyron and Ford GT duo perfectly.
Car enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating that Mr. Vu will showcase all five supercars, including the Bugatti Veyron, Ford GT, Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition, McLaren Senna, and Porsche 918 Spyder. This would be a remarkable display of his collection and a celebration of the global car enthusiast community.
If Mr. Vu decides to include the McLaren Senna and Porsche 918 Spyder at the last minute, it will be a stunning surprise for car enthusiasts worldwide gathering in Vietnam for Gumball 3000’s 25th anniversary. It is rare for an individual to own nearly 700 cars, let alone three hypercars and two exclusive Ford models.
Both the McLaren Senna and Porsche 918 Spyder are limited-production hypercars, and their presence in Mr. Vu’s collection elevates his status as a car enthusiast and collector. The cars were imported directly to Vietnam, and the dealer provided temporary license plates with the promise of registering them with regular plates after full tax payment.
Even if Mr. Vu decides to stick with his initial selection of 15 Ferraris and the trio of the Bugatti Veyron, Ford GT, and Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition, it will still be a spectacular display.
Initially, the Trung Nguyen team wanted to exhibit 28 cars, but due to logistical constraints from the Gumball 3000 organizers, the final count was reduced to 18.
