BMW Faces Backlash Over Subscription Fee for Adaptive M Suspension: Clarification Issued
BMW has recently come under fire from customers who were perplexed by the company’s request to pay a monthly fee of 30 Euros (approximately 826,000 VND) to use the Adaptive M Suspension System.
Amid the controversy, BMW representatives provided clarification. They explained that while the suspension system is available through the Connected Drive store in the US, it is not mandatory for users to subscribe. It remains a standard option but can be added to certain vehicles through the store.
Customers can try it out for free for a month, and if they like it, they have the choice to subscribe monthly or annually or even purchase it outright for 500 USD (12.5 million VND). In essence, a monthly subscription is not compulsory to utilize this feature.
In simpler terms, the Adaptive M Suspension is an available option on the car, but if users want to access it, they need to pay extra to unlock the software.
In reality, the Adaptive M Suspension is typically a standard feature on BMW’s high-performance models. However, on some basic models like the 3-Series, it is part of the Dynamic Handling Package, which costs an additional 1,050 USD (around 26 million VND). The same applies to the 4-Series and the Z4, where customers have to pay 1,500 USD (37.5 million VND) and 2,450 USD (61 million VND), respectively.
For the X1, the Adaptive M Suspension is included in the M Sport package, which costs an extra 2,000 USD (approximately 50 million VND). The X2 and X5 models require similar payments of 2,500 USD (62.6 million VND) and 2,750 USD (68.9 million VND), respectively, to access this feature.
