Mitsubishi is gearing up to unveil the updated Outlander for the 2025 model year. Ahead of its official reveal later this year, the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander has been spotted almost undisguised on Japanese roads.

It comes as no surprise that the 2025 model features subtle design changes compared to its predecessor. The updated Outlander sports a revised LED headlight assembly with a new internal design. Additionally, the front grille and bumper have been refined for a sharper look.

The prototype Outlander spotted in Japan features a new paint color, Moonstone Gray Metallic, and sits on a fresh set of 20-inch alloy wheels.

While the exterior updates are modest, the interior of this C-segment SUV will see more significant changes. Mitsubishi has teased an all-new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the older 8-inch and 9-inch units. This larger screen is expected to be shared with the updated Nissan X-Trail.

Additionally, the Outlander will offer semi-aniline leather-appointed seats with cooling functionality, higher-quality interior materials, and a Yamaha sound system. These enhancements will elevate the interior ambiance and competitiveness of the Mitsubishi Outlander 2025.

More importantly, Mitsubishi has confirmed that the updated Outlander will feature the latest plug-in hybrid powertrain. This new PHEV system is likely to offer increased power output and an improved all-electric range compared to the current model’s 61 km capability. The outgoing Outlander PHEV delivers a maximum power output of 248 horsepower.

All-wheel drive will be offered, and Mitsubishi engineers have also worked on refining the chassis for improved ride comfort. The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is expected to go on sale in Europe on October 1, 2024, with an earlier launch anticipated for the Japanese market.
