In the first half of 2024, Suzuki’s hybrid model topped the sales chart in the hybrid vehicle segment, according to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA). These positive signals motivated Vietnam Suzuki to introduce the XL7 Hybrid, adding excitement to the 7-seater car market and following the growing trend of hybrid vehicles in Vietnam.

Building on the strengths of the XL7, Vietnam Suzuki has upgraded the new model with a series of design and performance improvements. The SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system, developed by Suzuki, enables the vehicle to utilize energy from the gasoline engine, combined with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery. This ensures smooth acceleration and superior performance for all journeys.

The ISG converts kinetic energy into electrical energy through a regenerative braking system, storing it in the battery and accumulator when the vehicle decelerates. Additionally, the ISG acts as a drive motor to assist and boost the vehicle during restarts, acceleration, and climbing slopes smoothly and gently. As a result, the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and performance are improved.

Notably, the XL7 Hybrid is equipped with an Idling Stop feature to maximize the gasoline engine’s resting time when the vehicle is stopped at traffic lights or moving in congested urban areas. During this time, the gasoline engine automatically shuts off, but electrical devices remain operational thanks to the energy stored in the battery and accumulator, ensuring uninterrupted in-car entertainment. When the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine restarts smoothly, aided by the ISG’s belt-driven mechanism.

The standout feature of this system lies in the seamless combination of the ISG, lithium-ion battery, regenerative braking system, and Idling Stop function in the XL7 Hybrid. This automation allows the driver to focus solely on steering, while relevant information about energy levels and hybrid operation can be conveniently monitored through the Multi-Information Display (MID).
