The All-New MG3 2025: Now Available in Southeast Asia, Taking on the Mazda2

It is yet unclear whether the MG3 2025 B-segment car will be available for sale in Vietnam after its release in Thailand.

The all-new MG3 made its debut in the European market back in February 2024. Six months later, this B-segment hatchback is now being introduced to the Southeast Asian region, specifically in Thailand.

In the Thai market, the MG3 2025 is offered in two variants: the D and X. The respective prices for these versions are 579,900 Baht (approximately 421 million VND) and 619,900 Baht (450 million VND). However, the first 1,000 units will be offered at a special price of only 559,900 Baht (407 million VND) and 599,900 Baht (436 million VND).

Falling into the same segment as the Mazda2, Toyota Yaris, and Honda City Hatchback, the MG3 2025 boasts dimensions of 4,113 mm in length, 1,797 mm in width, and 1,502 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. This model has a longer wheelbase than the Toyota Yaris and a shorter one compared to the Honda City Hatchback.

Compared to its predecessor, the MG3 2025 has been improved in terms of both size and design. This model adopts a sharper design language with more angular lines similar to its siblings, the MG5 and MG7. This design approach gives the MG hatchback a sportier and more modern appearance.

At the front, the MG3 2025 features a large grille and a more aggressive LED headlight cluster. Additionally, it sports wide air intakes at the corners of the front bumper and a sporty lip spoiler.

The side profile of this Chinese-made car features prominent character lines, new two-tone 5-spoke alloy wheels, and a floating roof design. At the rear, you’ll find compact LED taillights that mirror the design of the headlights, along with a faux air vent in the bumper and vertical reflectors on either side.

In Thailand, the standard equipment list for the MG3 2025 includes LED headlights with auto-on/off functionality, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, fog lights, power-adjustable and auto-folding side mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, a MacPherson strut front suspension, and a semi-independent rear suspension.

The interior of the MG3 2025 offers a spacious cabin with two rows of seats accommodating up to five occupants. The car comes with black fabric upholstery, a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat.

Additionally, it features a multifunction steering wheel with tilt adjustment, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 6-speaker audio system, automatic climate control with digital display, PM2.5 air filtration, rear air vents, two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, keyless entry, and push-button start.

In terms of safety, the MG3 2025 in Thailand comes standard with six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring, a rearview camera, and disc brakes on all four wheels.

The range-topping variant adds features such as automatic wipers, two-tone synthetic leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging, a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, driver attention alert, and intelligent high-beam control.

Under the hood, the MG3 2025 is powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 102 horsepower and 128 Nm of torque, paired with an electric motor that generates 136 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Combined, the system delivers a total output of 194 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.

Additionally, it features an 183-kilowatt lithium-ion NMC battery, a 3-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. The car offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. It also comes with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that has three levels of regenerative braking: high, medium, and low.

Thai customers can choose from six color options for their MG3 2025: white, black, gray, red, blue, or yellow. It remains to be seen whether this B-segment hatchback will be introduced in other Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam.
