The online community has been abuzz with the story of a young couple from Ho Chi Minh City, who just so happen to be car modification enthusiasts and owners of a Honda Civic Type R and a VinFast VF3.
While the husband’s Honda Civic Type R is loaded with aftermarket parts and modifications, the wife’s VinFast VF3 sports a more subtle upgrade with a set of custom rims that still make a bold statement among the hundreds of other VF3s on the road.
The Honda Civic Type R, finished in the rare Rallye Red paint, is one of only five basic color options available for this high-performance Honda model. The other four colors include Racing Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Sonic Grey Pearl, and Championship White. This particular red shade is a rare sight among the nearly 20 Honda Civic Type Rs spotted in Vietnam.
To enhance its visual appeal, the owner has added a white stripe decal that runs from the front bumper, across the hood, and onto the rear of the car. Additional modifications include a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear wing, all contributing to a more aggressive stance. The car also features a set of multi-spoke aftermarket wheels.
Under the hood, the 2023 Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four K20C1 engine with a turbocharger, producing an impressive 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 2,600 and 4,000 rpm. This power plant is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, enabling the car to reach a top speed of 272 km/h. The upgraded manual gearbox is complemented by a rev-matching system for smoother and more exciting driving experiences. The Type R also offers four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Individual, and +R.
In terms of safety, the Honda Civic Type R is equipped with features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and more.
Now, let’s shift our focus to the VinFast VF3. This electric vehicle is powered by a rear-mounted motor that delivers 43 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.
The VF3 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack offering a usable capacity of 18.64 kWh. This setup provides a range of 210 kilometers on a single charge, according to the NEDC standard. Charging the battery from 10% to 70% takes 5 hours with a standard charger and just 36 minutes using a fast charger.
