On August 20, 2024, the official Wuling website, a subsidiary of SAIC-GM-Wuling, announced the launch of the Hongguang MINIEV 215km Youth Edition, priced at 40,800 Chinese yuan, which is equivalent to 133 million Vietnamese dong.
The launch of the Hongguang MINIEV 215km Youth Edition indicates that Wuling is keen on boosting sales for this electric car, which was once the best-selling EV in the world. Wuling has entered the Vietnamese market with this model but has not seen significant success due to competition from VinFast VF3, which offers a more masculine design, a more powerful electric motor, and, most importantly, fast charging. The Wuling Hongguang MINIEV sold in Vietnam is an older model that does not support fast charging.
The Wuling Hongguang MINIEV 215km Youth Edition continues the fashionable and cute design style of its predecessor sold in Vietnam. It offers a total of five fun colors: cafe au lait, light mango yellow, avocado green, white peach, and iris blue, along with LED lights.
The front and rear lights have a sleek and adorable appearance. The interior features two styles, Milk Toffee and Brownie Black, with a classic and sweet look. This is combined with houndstooth patterned fabric seats to give the car a unique appearance.
In terms of powertrain, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV 215km Youth Edition is equipped with a 17.3kW·h battery, offering a range of 215 kilometers on a single charge, as per the CLTC test cycle.
It supports three energy-replenishing methods: fast DC charging, slow AC charging, and home charging. Fast charging can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes, making it extremely convenient. It is also compatible with standard household power outlets of 220V/10A.
