The Gumball 3000 2024 supercar event has captured the attention of netizens and media outlets in Vietnam and worldwide. Participants’ vehicles have been shipped to the assembly point at Tan Son Nhat Airport, Vietnam.
In two previous articles, we featured images of modified cars, including the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Brabus 800, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Rolls-Royce Dawn, and the limited-edition Ferrari 812 Competizione, of which only 999 units were produced globally. Now, additional photos have surfaced, showcasing more stunning supercars that have arrived in Vietnam.
Among the latest images is a beautifully wrapped Ferrari 296 GTB. According to Gumball 3000’s previously shared list, there is only one registered Ferrari 296 GTB. The original car sports a red color, but the one that has recently arrived in Vietnam features a light pink body with a tiger graphic, likely the same vehicle. There are almost five Ferrari 296 GTBs in Vietnam, making this model not too rare in the country.
The Ferrari 296 GTB is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor. The internal combustion engine produces a maximum output of 654 horsepower, while the electric motor adds another 164 horsepower. The torque figures for the internal combustion engine and the electric motor are 425 Nm and 315 Nm, respectively. The combined output of the plug-in hybrid system in the Ferrari 296 GTB is 818 horsepower and 740 Nm of peak torque.
The Ferrari 296 GTB accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 330 km/h. This plug-in hybrid model can travel up to 25 kilometers and reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h on electric power alone. The Ferrari 296 GTB retains the eManettino feature with driving modes such as eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify, along with standard Manettino settings like Sport, Race, CT off, and ESC off.
While the Ferrari 296 GTB is already impressive, the newly shipped cargo to Vietnam also includes the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, a street-legal race car that has not yet been seen in the country. This addition completes the extensive collection of Mercedes-AMG GT Series models owned by Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is powered by a V8 biturbo engine that generates a maximum output of 720 horsepower, a significant increase of 143 horsepower over the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The super sports car also benefits from an additional 100 Nm of torque, resulting in a peak torque of 800 Nm.
Coupled with a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 325 km/h, outperforming the Mercedes-AMG GT R, which achieves the same feat in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 318 km/h.
The other two vehicles recently spotted in Vietnam are the Lamborghini Urus super SUV, although it is unclear if it is the standard, S, or Performante version, and the Audi RS5.
This year’s Gumball 3000 supercar event marks the 25th anniversary of its establishment. The gathering in Vietnam will officially kick off on September 14, 2024. On the 15th, the convoy will move to Cambodia, then to Thailand and Malaysia, before concluding in Singapore. A total of 120 vehicles are expected to participate in this exciting journey.
