With just under 20 days to go until the Gumball 3000 2024 rally, preparations are being accelerated with the transportation of supercars from around the world to Vietnam. The event, which will take place on the 14th and 15th of September 2024, has already seen 10 unique supercars from global enthusiasts flown into the country.
Among these, a few stand out for their distinctiveness, including a modified Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck, the limited-edition Ferrari 812 Competizione, and the Rolls-Royce Dawn, which we will delve into further in this article.
The Rolls-Royce Dawn, a luxurious convertible, is no stranger to Vietnam’s elite, with two examples already present in the country. However, this newly imported model stands out for its unique exterior wrap, featuring an intriguing combination of green and white hues.
The livery of this Rolls-Royce Dawn may evoke a sense of familiarity, as it bears a resemblance to the traditional ceramics of Vietnam. With this distinctive appearance, the supercar is sure to hold its own among the hundreds of other extraordinary vehicles that will be gathering in Vietnam for the Gumball 3000 rally.
According to Gumball 3000’s roster, only one Rolls-Royce Dawn, registered to a participant from France, is slated to join the rally. This particular Dawn, originally finished in a dark shade of blue, has been transformed with an eye-catching wrap and blacked-out wheels for the event.
The Rolls-Royce Dawn was introduced as a replacement for the previous-generation two-door convertible, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, of which there are an estimated five examples in Vietnam.
Unlike its predecessor, which was based on the seventh-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Dawn is built on the Ghost platform, representing the pinnacle of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ offerings until the eighth-generation Phantom arrived.
The Rolls-Royce Dawn is the last combustion-engined convertible produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Sharing a platform with the Wraith, these two models are the only remaining Rolls-Royce vehicles utilizing BMW underpinnings.
Upon its launch, Rolls-Royce touted the Dawn as the quietest convertible in the world. The soft-top roof takes approximately 20 seconds to retract or raise, and this can be accomplished while the car is in motion, provided the speed does not exceed 50 km/h.
Under the hood, the Rolls-Royce Dawn is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that generates a maximum output of 563 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and a peak torque of 820 Nm at 1,500 rpm.
This substantial power is managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission, enabling the luxurious convertible to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
