On the morning of August 26, 2024, a vehicle registration center in Ho Chi Minh City became a focal point of attention for car enthusiasts across Vietnam. The reason? None other than Dang Le Nguyen Vu’s collection of supercars, including the centerpiece: the Bugatti Veyron.

This marks the first time that the Chairman of Trung Nguyen’s Bugatti Veyron has left his garage. The reason for this rare outing was to renew the vehicle’s registration, which had expired a few months ago. This necessary paperwork will enable the car to join the upcoming Gumball 3000 rally.

Our team spotted the Bugatti Veyron, along with a white Ferrari 488 GTB, undergoing the necessary registration process. This procedure is a prerequisite for the speed demons to lead a pack of 18 supercars from Trung Nguyen in the upcoming Gumball 3000 event, scheduled for next month.

Initially, Trung Nguyen intended to showcase 28 cars. However, the world’s largest supercar rally could only accommodate 18 vehicles. Thus, Vu hand-picked an impressive lineup, including 15 supercars: Ferraris, the Bugatti Veyron, a Ford GT, and the standout Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition.

The corporation’s sponsorship for this global supercar extravaganza amounts to £200,000, or approximately 5.93 billion VND. It’s important to note that these 18 supercars will be on display but will not join the Gumball 3000 rally convoy.

Supercar Lineup

The million-dollar Bugatti Veyron, hand-picked by Dang Le Nguyen Vu himself, has surprisingly never been driven by its owner in the six years since its acquisition. This is an intriguing twist to the story.

When the “speed king” Bugatti Veyron first arrived in Vietnam, it sported a red and white exterior. However, after being purchased by the Tay Nguyen entrepreneur in 2018, it underwent a color change to white. Local Vietnamese technicians skillfully mixed the paint and executed the transformation. Recently, the Bugatti Veyron has emerged yet again with a new look, now sporting a sleek black and white color scheme.

With only 450 Bugatti Veyrons ever produced worldwide, this supercar is an exclusive member of Vu’s garage, alongside the McLaren Senna, Porsche 918 Spyder, and the standard Ford GT. One notable modification on Vu’s Bugatti Veyron is the headlights, which have been upgraded to resemble the ones on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

Bugatti Veyron Engine

Under the hood, the Bugatti Veyron boasts a formidable 16-cylinder engine in a W configuration, with a displacement of 8 liters. This powerhouse, equipped with 64 valves, 4 camshafts, and 4 turbochargers, generates a staggering 1,001 horsepower and 1,250 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed transmission, the Bugatti Veyron sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 2.5 seconds. Reaching 200 km/h takes just 3.8 seconds, and the supercar’s top speed is an astonishing 408.84 km/h.

The Bugatti Veyron’s chrome-plated rims are a shining feature, but they come at a cost. After approximately 16,000 kilometers, the owner will need to shell out $55,000 for a new set of rims. Additionally, the Veyron’s tires require replacement every 4,000 kilometers, which can set the owner back by up to $33,000. These exorbitant maintenance costs make the Bugatti Veyron a supercar suited only for the most dedicated collectors.
