Land Rover surprises with the return of the V8 Defender as a limited-edition special, the Classic Defender V8.
A modern twist on an iconic vehicle, the Classic Defender V8 is a bespoke creation by Land Rover’s personalization division, Works Bespoke. Available in two body styles, the 90 and 110, these vehicles are handcrafted by Land Rover Classic engineers, based on previous-generation Defenders produced from 2012 to 2016.
As a special build, the Classic Defender V8 offers a diverse range of exterior colors. Customers can choose from exclusive Heritage, Contemporary, Premium, and SV Metallic paints or even request a unique color designed according to their preferences. Land Rover also offers various options for the special edition’s grille, which is complemented by modern LED headlights.
These special Defenders are equipped with either 16-inch Wolf wheels or 18-inch Sawtooth wheels. The exterior can be further enhanced with optional side steps, a roof rack, an expedition cage, a ladder, LED roof lights, and a winch. The Adventure Pack option includes a roof-mounted tent and an extended load space, transforming the Defender into the ultimate camping vehicle.
The interior of the Classic Defender V8 is a luxurious affair, with premium leather upholstery offered in five single-tone and eight two-tone color schemes. Customers can choose between Premium or Recaro seats. The central console retains its classic look while incorporating a new 3.5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, navigation, and DAB radio functionality. Land Rover has also redesigned the gear selector and added gloss black accents.
Under the hood, the Classic Defender V8 is powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing 400 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. Similar to previous Defender models by Works Bespoke, this special edition delivers an impressive driving experience.
Land Rover has also upgraded the SUV’s suspension with modified Eibach coil springs, an anti-roll bar, and Bilstein dampers, ensuring a comfortable ride. The braking system has been enhanced with Alcon four-piston calipers and larger discs for added safety in emergency situations.
The Works Bespoke Classic Defender V8 comes at a significant premium compared to other Defender models. Pricing starts at £190,000 (approximately $230,000) for the Defender 90 four-seater, £199,000 (approximately $240,000) for the Defender 110 five-seater, and £204,000 (approximately $246,000) for the Defender 110 seven-seater. These prices exclude taxes and any additional options chosen by the customer.
