The Volkswagen Viloran, a large MPV, made its debut in Vietnam in late December 2023. According to the company, nearly 1,000 Vilorans were sold in the first six months of this year.

This number pales in comparison to the cumulative sales of its direct rival, the Kia Carnival, which sold 2,473 units in the same period. However, the Viloran’s sales performance is still impressive considering its high price tag, ranging from 1.989 billion to 2.188 billion VND.

Nearly 1,000 Volkswagen Vilorans sold in Vietnam in the first half of 2024, despite its high price tag.

The Volkswagen Viloran may be more expensive than the Kia Carnival, but it has its own advantages. Firstly, it has larger dimensions than its South Korean competitor. The German-made MPV measures 5,346 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, and 1,781 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,180 mm. It is 191 mm longer, 19 mm narrower, and 6 mm taller than the Kia Carnival, with a wheelbase that is a substantial 90 mm longer.

The Volkswagen Viloran boasts larger dimensions than the Kia Carnival.

The Viloran’s larger size translates to a more spacious interior. It offers a 7-seat configuration with a unique 2+2+3 layout. The middle row features two executive-style seats that not only exude luxury but also provide a convenient passage to the last row.

The Volkswagen Viloran’s second-row executive seats offer both comfort and convenience.

All Viloran variants feature leather upholstery and wood trim, exuding a premium feel. This fully imported vehicle from China also boasts an extensive list of convenience features. These include power-adjustable front seats, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker sound system, tri-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof.

On the outside, the Viloran impresses with its LED lighting signature, electric sliding doors with five opening/closing positions, power-folding and adjustable mirrors with heating function, an electric tailgate with a kick sensor, and stylish 19-inch alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line variant takes it up a notch with 20-inch wheels and IQ Light LED matrix headlights.

The Viloran also shines when it comes to safety. It is equipped with 7 to 9 airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, electronic differential lock, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring, lane change assist, and a 360-degree camera system.

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Viloran is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 220 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, delivering power to the front wheels.

Unlike some other Volkswagen models such as the Touareg and Teramont X, the Viloran currently does not have any special promotions or discounts offered by the company or its dealerships.
