On September 1st, 2024, Honda Vietnam unexpectedly announced price adjustments for two of its models: the City and the CR-V. The suggested retail price of the Honda City has been reduced by 40 to 60 million VND.

Specifically, the price of the Honda City G trim has been lowered by 60 million VND to 499 million VND. The L trim now has a listed price of 539 million VND, a reduction of 50 million VND. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line RS trim has been discounted by 40 million VND, with a new listed price of 569 million VND.

As of September 1st, 2024, the Honda City’s listed price in the Vietnamese market will range from 499 to 569 million VND. With this pricing, the Honda sedan has closed the gap with its competitors in the B-segment, such as the Toyota Vios (458-545 million VND) and the Hyundai Accent (439-569 million VND).

Honda City G 499,000,000 559,000,000 60,000,000

In addition to the price reduction, the Honda City is also eligible for the government’s support program offering a 50% discount on registration fees. This program is valid for three months, from September 1st to November 30th, 2024, for domestically produced and assembled cars.

With the 50% discount on registration fees, Honda City buyers can save an additional 25 million VND for the G trim, 27 million VND for the L trim, and 28 million VND for the RS trim. These attractive incentives are expected to significantly boost the sales of this B-segment sedan in the last months of 2024.

In July 2024, the Honda City sold 744 units, achieving a growth rate of 67.9%. However, it remained in third place in the B-segment sedan market, behind the Toyota Vios (1,745 units) and the Hyundai Accent (985 units). For the first seven months of the year, the Honda City sold a total of 4,060 units, also ranking third in its segment.

Compared to its competitors in the same segment, the Honda City’s new starting price is still significantly higher. However, even the base model comes with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which is a feature that its rivals lack.

Specifically, the Honda City is equipped with a collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), automatic high-beam headlights (AHB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), road departure mitigation (RDM), lane-keeping assist (LKAS), and a front vehicle start notification system (LCDN).

In addition to its standard ADAS features, the Honda City also boasts other advantages such as spacious interiors for its class, eye-catching design, a reputable brand, and highly-regarded driving dynamics.

The Honda City is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 119 horsepower and a peak torque of 145 Nm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
